Don’t Forget The Sunscreen

don't forget the sunscreen

Me and my girls are outdoors a lot.  Like all day every day a lot.  And most of all in the summertime when we spend the longest days of the year at the pool or the beach or the park, on long walks and trips to get ice cream, soaking up the sun as we go.  And though I can’t seem to bring myself indoors on a beautiful day, I just make sure I don’t forget the sunscreen.  The absolute best memories I have from childhood and some of my favorite times all together involve being outside.  Here are some of our favorite sunscreens that we can’t live without.

1.     In the mornings, I use Clarins multi-protection SPF 40 day screen before putting anything else on my face.

2.     I have been loyal to Aveeno products for a long time and love this hydrating one for the body.

3.     On a recent trip, I managed to leave without sunscreen in my luggage and found this COOLA organic sunscreen for the face in a store at the hotel and loved it.

4.     For the girls I love using The Honest Co. broad spectrum sunscreen lotion, which rubs in nicely and seems to stay on pretty well through sweating and in the pool.

Happy Sunday!

The Best Ever Margarita Recipe

marg ingredients

This is the best margarita recipe ever!…according to me.  But I am a huge fan of the cocktail after all, and have been trying them out at each new restaurant and bar since as long as I’ve had my i.d., so that counts for something, right?  I always take mine on the rocks and without salt.  I’ve never really liked how the two mixed.  And though a little salt usually pairs well with most other foods and drinks that I like, especially in the case of butter and caramels, here, it seems to interfere with the main event.  The tequila is key in making a great tasting margarita and so is the quality of the limes, since so much of the fresh juice is used to create each glass.

margarita recipeIngredients:

  •  1/4 cup fresh squeezed lime juice
  • 1/4 cup Olmeca Altos 100% agave tequila (or your preferred brand of white tequila)
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons agave nectar
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons triple sec
  • splash of ice water

You’ll also need:

  • old fashioned glass kept in the freezer for at least 30 minutes to chill
  • lime wedge for garnish

1.     Place all ingredients in a shaker with ice and shake vigorously until mixed.

2.     Pour over ice in chilled glass with a lime wedge.

Roundup: Best Boozy Ice Pops to Try Right Now

A few weeks back, I did a blog post with some great kid-friendly and toddler-approved ice pops, HERE.  And although I enjoyed all of them just as much as my two-year-old, I have been craving an adult version of the same sweet treats.  Here are six of the best boozy ice pops to try right now.  So, put the little ones to bed early and enjoy a margarita popsicle in the backyard or be the hero at your next barbeque by having a batch of the strawberry mojito ice pops on hand.

Simply Summer

simply summer

Summer is one of the simplest seasons to dress for.  With a daily uniform usually consisting of a bathing suit that easily takes me from the pool with the kids to the beach with a good book, it’s important to find swimwear that is comfortable and that I truly love.  This one-piece can double as a top when paired with cut-off shorts and the classic stripes are quintessential summer.  And the eyelet off-the-shoulder top is perfect for warm weather and flirty enough for date night.  Here are some of my favorite summer staples, including a few not pictured below.

1.     Classic striped one-piece (on sale now!).

2.     Perfect denim cut-off shorts (super old pair pictured, but similar HERE).

3.     An easy off-the-shoulder eyelet detailed crop top (this one pictured is sold out, similar HERE and HERE).

4.     Well worn-in summer sandals.

5.     Sun protection-chic panama hat (not pictured).

6.     Ray-Ban Wayfarers (not pictured).

7.     Chemical-free broad spectrum sunscreen for the whole family (not pictured).

8.     Beach bag tote with zipper and pockets roomy enough for packing good reads, kid-approved shovels and pails and lots of snacks (and at an awesome price!).

Happy summer!

America’s annual birthday celebration is a chance to dress as patriotic as you often feel.  Whether it’s classic stripes or pops of the famous red, white and blue, go for a patriotic-chic look this weekend.
