Every fall, one of my favorite things to do (even well before kids) has been to go apple picking. Now that I have my own kids, the excitement has doubled. There is just something about walking through fields of pretty fruit in the September sunshine that doesn’t get old. And the intoxicating smell of fresh baked, cider donuts doesn’t hurt. The other day, the girls grabbed their tiny, blue paper baskets and headed straight for the rows of raspberries. Reese’s tactic was to just eat as she went along. Emma, on the other hand, made sure she had a neat, bright-red pile before she dipped into her findings. Since my absolute favorite apples are the Honeycrisp, we spent our time in that section of the orchard after berry-picking and we all pitched in to bring back one seriously heavy crate. Though the crate now has a lot less apples than when we brought it home, it is still sitting on the counter until the rain hits towards the end of this week and I can stay in and make an apple crumb pie. Here are a bunch of photos from our trip to the farm the other day.
Cheers to fall adventures!
