Month: July 2017

Just about every wedding photo I came across from last season, every summer soiree, included guests in the same dress type: spaghetti straps, lots of lace, longish in length.  And I loved all of them.  Just not all of the price tags.  Fast forward twelve months and lots of other trends to try in between, and I kind of gave up on the pursuit.  Then, recently, I happened to be in T.J. Maxx and on a rack in a completely different section than where it should be, hung a replica of the dress I had my eye on all those months ago.  I scooped it up with no particular place to wear it, no upcoming occasions that I could think of, but with the $26 price tag (which was less than the t-shirt I brought with me to the checkout line) I couldn’t pass it up.  You might still be able to snag it at you local store, too, but if not, I found virtually the same exact one here (and below), and have rounded up some other dupes that are all super affordable and super chic.

{Top Row, Left to Right}:

1.  Such a pretty dusty pink and the detailing on the back is perfection.

2. Great dress to wear as a wedding guest or to any dinner party.

3.  Crisp white is always a good idea come spring.

{Bottom Row, Left to Right}:

4.  This purple crochet with nude liner is such a pretty combo.

5.   Love this bold color.

6.  Cocktail-ready.

Happy shopping!

This long holiday weekend felt like it went on forever, in a good way, and thankfully ours was filled with lots of time with family and friends, and fireworks, but it was so jam-packed that when all was said and done, it was also down-right exhausting.  My own little family and I escaped out east for a short trip to unwind and spend some much-needed quality time as a family of five.  Long Island is, and will always be, one of my favorite spots to go for that.  We made our way to the wine stand and the vineyard and I wore this easy, breezy, summer-esque midi-skirt from J.Crew, which has become a popular fixture in my wardrobe (so popular that it sold out, but look for similar styles here and here).  I paired it with the shirt that goes with absolutely everything this summer.  It is crisp white and the crop-top is perfect to wear with maxi skirts, midi skirts and all of the high-waisted denim, both long and short, that are trending this season.  It is also pretty perfectly priced at $32.

{J.CREW skirt, sold out, shop similar items here and here / ASOS monki ruched bardot top / SOLUDOS linen tall wedge / HELEN FICALORA alphabet charm necklace / RAY BAN folding tortoise sunglasses}

I usually pair my summer staples with plain t-shirts, and rotate them throughout the summer, but had been searching for a top like this that elevated the look a little more.  The ruching adds a nice detail.  And this off-the-shoulder style is what I love to wear most in the warm weather.  I sized up since I have a pretty long torso and don’t love baring my midriff, but love the fit with higher waisted bottoms.

Here’s to another weekend!
